Make top level categories apear for upload selections

I have a dilemma here.

I have categories that users can upload to but it is going to be confusing and let me explain why.

I have categories such as towns, lodging in towns, and people in towns. Under each of these categories I have the same subcategories, like Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, ect.

I do not want user to upload photos to the top level category. I want then to upload there photos into the sub categories. For this I removed check mark in all the usergroups for “These checked usergroups can upload to this category”.

This is where the problem lies. When a user clicks on Upload Photos. They get aa listing like this and it does not display the top level category. So they do not know which category to upload to.

Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont
Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont
Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont

Is there a way to make the upload category choises to display like this even though the top level is turn off for uploading to them?

Towns
- Maine
- New Hampshire
- Vermont
Lodging in towns
- Maine
- New Hampshire
- Vermont
People in towns
- Maine
- New Hampshire
- Vermont

No sorry you can not do something like that without code modification to how the cat list is generated. I know we do something a little different in reviewpost or classifieds like this.

If you place them to upload they show but you cant upload to them right

If I place them to upload they show and users can upload to them. I don't want them to be able to upload to them.

If I place them so users can not upload to them then they do not show. I need some type of separators so the user know which category they are uploading to otherwise they see a drop down menu like this.

Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont
Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont
Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont

This can be done with vBGallery. There should be some way to do it here and if you can't then this should definitely be something that should be added.

Actually they use to show different. Try what I use in classifieds.

In pp-inc.php find this

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
change to this

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

Thanks Chuck. That will work for the time being. It is a crappy way of doing it though. This needs to be addresses by the programmers though. Should I readdress this in the suggestion forum?
