ecard not sending

I have used the ecard several time and it worked fine. But it has stopped working meaning it says it was sent successfully but no one receives them. I tested it with a few of my emails as well and I have not received them. Not sure what is could be causing this.

Have you had your host ensure mail is working on the server? Do you get any email from photopost? You know admin emails etc.

If you see no errors onscreen when sending the ecard then I would suspect it is sending the data to the server fine. Have you checked email spam filters?

I would suggest you check your server logs for errors to assist you here because their appears to be no errors with the script passing the emails to your server. I have tested ecards and they appear to work. I sent myself one from a clean install and even sent you one.

My host company responded with the following.

"It looks like your script is trying to send those mails out under the uid nobody. To resolve this you can modify your script to use SMTP to send the mails or we can switch you over to phpsuexec (global server change) and it will send those mails out under the uid of the user rather than nobody."

Is there any preference and where would I cnage the uid to smtp in the script if I do this?

The sender of the Photopost emails is the admin email which would be located in your Global Options in admin so if you have this set correctly it points me to mail not being set up correctly on there server. We use a very simple php mail string which passes to php the from email to email subject and letter and php sends it out. Thus something here appears wrong.

Chuck, I realize the email on the server may not be set up correctly. That is why I contacted the server admins and asked the question. I showed you the response they sent back. They offered two solutions. My question was is there a preference of which solution I use from the way photopost works.

I would have them setup php to use the proper smtp info and if that does not work they could try moving your account to another server.

Chuck can you respond to the original response from the server admin with regard to uid vs smtp. The stated:

"It looks like your script is trying to send those mails out under the uid nobody. To resolve this you can modify your script to use SMTP to send the mails or we can switch you over to phpsuexec (global server change) and it will send those mails out under the uid of the user rather than nobody."

Is this the case with regard to the script. Does it use uid or are the admins wrong. If it ndoes use uid where in the script can I change it to use smtp as they suggest?

As I stated they can try the easy route and see if that works then if that does not work they can try moving you to another server setup.

Check I am on a dedicated server and can set it up any way we need to, so moving to another server will not resolve anything. What do you mean by the easy way out? Nobody is trying to take the easy way out. Why is this so difficult to resolve and why would it require a special server setup. Again, they offered two solutions. They will set things up any way I need them.

I am asking how do I need it set up?

Does the script send email under a uid as they suggest?

If so, is there a place in the script to change the uid to smtp as they suggest?

I do not mean to be short but we are going on day three of the same questions and still no answer to my questions. We are launching a marketing program using the gallery in the next few days and I need this to work. Thanks

Sorry I support software. I am not sure what your asking me or needing confirmation from me on. I am not a server admin never will be and personally do not deal in any manner setting up servers. I would suggest you ask your host to fix there mail.

We send a simple PHP mail string in the program. Maybe if they understand this maybe it will help them to get php mail working?

Chuck, this is a software support question not a server question.

Where in the script can I change the uid email to send out using smtp?

My friend that is a server question. If mail was working on your server I suspect a recent upgrade to the servers they did broke this.

I have stated a few times over in this thread we use php mail statement which means your host must have php correctly working to send mail. The admin email is taken from the global settings in admin and the users email is grabbed by the script. There is nothing to do with uid's or smtp. Those are server issues your host needs to resolve and get php mail properly working. Here is a very simple example of a mail string we use.

Code:

I have shown you this is not a software issue I sent you an ecard from my gallery. Here is a php tutorial that might help your host. I instructed earlier they could setup in the php configuration file the smtp settings for mail to work. This is 100% a server issue here. Once they properly get php mail working your system should send ecards fine.
