Question Can member Galleries be a Top Level Category?

If so, how?

it isn't formated on the main index like the other categories. How do I make it look like the the other top level cats?

I want it to look like your reeftalk gallery. The same type of formating.

I use the gallery to display the plants that I sell. Having a member gallery is secondary for my purposes but I still want it. Therefore, I want to place it at the bottom of the list of categories I set up. When I do that, it looks like it is part of another categorie and strangely indented...

I disagree Chuck so let me try to be more specific. Every one of my top level categories has different formating than my member galleries category formatting. (On my site i call the member galleries "My Photos.")

For example, "Events" is a top level category and doesn't have an indentation. Underneath it I added the Garden Tours sub-category and it is indented. The "My Photos" category is formatted to look like it is a sub-cat of the garden Tours sub-cat. Do you see what I mean?

I want the "My Photos" category to match the look and feel of the other top level categories that do not have thumbnails. How do I make that change?

Thanks,

John

Your free to disagree here all you like thats your right

However as when I view my gallery or yours the members gallery is definately a top level cat. It cant be a top level cat with that long strip because only cats that do not contain photos can be that but it is a top level cat that contains photos.

Really nothing more I can add to this discussion that would change anything

I'll put my 2c in here. I don't believe that the Personal Photo Albums are able to be made into a Top Level Category, which is why they appear as they do when you place them at the bottom of the screen sort order.
What you would need to do is to create a Top Level Category, called "Member Galleries" or some such name, then put the Personal Photo Albums in there. You can then put that top level cat wherever you like on the page and it will align with the other categories you have.

I hope that helps. It would be nice though, to be able to have "Personal Photo Albums" as a Top Level Category because who ever uploads pictures to this part anyway?

I honestly think you both have a huge misconception here about what a top level category is

A Top level category is a category that is NOT A SUBCAT of another category its that simple

Now there are two types of top level categories ones that contain thumbnails and ones that do not.

Members gallery is obviously a top level category that contains thumbnails where other cats you have do not.

Albums are in no way categories and are not treated as such

Chuck, we may word it differently but our understanding is the same.
It would be nice if we could change the Members Gallery to one that DOES NOT contain thumbnails, so that it can appear the same as the ones that currently do not.

Thank you, I think we get the picture. It doesn't hurt to wish it behaved differently though.
