How do I change from GD to ImageMagick

I have found that bitmaps are not supported by GD so I have to move to ImageMagick.

I have 2 questions:

1. My server doesn't currently have ImageMagick installed. Can anyone tell me if it is something I need shell access for or can I install it just using my control panel?
2. Also, are there any issues with moving from GD to ImageMagick? ie. does it affect photos already uploaded into PhotoPost?

Hello switching does not affect any photos

To install imagemagick you need shell access and here are instructions
