Stop redundant stats or top postsers on index?

I've done this before, but don't remember what I did on other sites:

When I display the top posters on the left, it's also shown on the bottom of the index - I want to take it away from the bottom of the index but leave it on the left sidebar.

When I display statistics on the left side bar, it is also shown a different way on the bottom of the index. I want to remove it from the bottom of the index as well.

What is being missed
