I need to be able to support different types of members - with different options

ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS ?

This is quite simple - and it might even be allready done in the photopost pro product - and i could acomplash what i want to do in a veriaty of ways - as they say there are my ways to skin the cat -

Ok here is my issues - first i need to be able to have or support different types of members - lets say every new member is give a temparay user clasifaction call it

junior member

and this junnor member when he registers gets the verifaction email when he registers and can login in as this junior member but he can not do much at all
so a junior member is cribbled on what he can do.

- Basicly knows that the process worked - what i do not want hm to be able to do is upload photos or get into anything except for public area which he did not have to register to see any ways - but the main thing no photo up loading for him what so ever - JUST BE ABLE TO VIEW PHOTOS IN THE GENERAL PUBLIC GALLERYS.

I need to be informaed that this user regstered - SOME HOW THIS COULD BE DONE BUT WHAT DO YOU SUGEST IF NOT ALLREADY SUPPORTED FEATURE.

i need to kind check the guy out and see if he is who he says he is - that will be my job for the most part AND IF THE EMAIL IS VALID AND IF I CAN SEND HIM A QUESTIRE TO BE FILLED OUT AND EMAIL TO ME BACK - ONCE I HAVE A EMAIL ADDRESS THAT CAN BE VERIFYED - TEH REST IS EASY FOR ME TO DO ON MY OWN.

Now once he is verifyed by send me back the questier all filled in - i would like to change his user status to full member or some other clasifaction - and if full member he could do all sorts of things like upload photos and create private upload areas for photos only.

Note; The photos uploaded on to the site i am building are safe for all ages - that is not the problem - The web site is a masonic site and i only want real verfyed masons to be able to upload photos and of course i do not want any in approate photos uploaded to the web site in any way or shape what so ever.

THANKS

Hi Frank,
Basically you define this through Usergroup permissions and Category permissions.

If your gallery is integrated with a forum, you first need to set up the usergroups in the forum.
Then go to the PhotoPost admin panel > Edit Usergroups
At the bottom of this page see:
(Refresh usergroups from your forum software?)

After you have done this, the Usergroups created will be displayed.
Then Edit PhotoPost Usergroups and select what each usergroup is entitled to do.
> Save Changes

You will need to move your members at the forum into their respective usergroup.

Next step, when you create Categories in your gallery > Edit Category

You will see various permission as to what each usergroup can do in each category created.
- These checked usergroups can view images in this category.
- These checked usergroups can upload to this category,
unless a usergroup's overall upload access is disabled.
- These checked usergroups can post (comments) to this category,
unless a usergroup's overall posting access is disabled.

Note: If you have categories that have subcategories and you want the permissions to be the same for all of them, you can select (at the bottom of the parent category in Edit Category:
Check box to apply these settings and permissions to all children.

So in a nutshell, first set up you usergroups and determine general permissions for each usergroup.

Then set up your categories and determine category permissions per usergroup:

Hope this helps.
You should be able to accomplish what you want.

Cheers

Now also i do not use any fourm - photopost module which is teh pro version is running indepentdent of any forum software and is in a page by its self. So in that case any of the details in replay change please let me know.

Well I'm not using a standalone but I imagine it's the same.
Go to Admin > Edit Usergroups > at Usergroup Name > Allow Uploads? > Set to No > Save Changes

If Require Moderation is set to No - Pictures uploaded will be processed immediately for usergroups who have permission to upload.

If Require Moderation is set to Yes - Pictures uploaded will be moderated (for usergroups who have permission to upload) They will be able to upload photos but they will not be visible to others till they have been approved.

There are a couple ways of dealing with/approving moderated uploads.

Admin Options > Notify Admin of New Uploads? Yes
You wil receive email notification of all photo uploads which will have a link directly to the photo to be approved.

If there is a photo to be moderated at your gallery, the admin link will display a 'check' next to it.
Then go to Admin > Approve Photos > and Delete, Approve, or Hold moderated photos

The best way to make sure that you have all the permission settings the way you want them is to set up a user account for different usergroups , then log in as that user and try uploading photos etc. etc
