Need searchable, pre-defined tags

Here is what I need:

I want to use Photopost to catalog and share a large number of historic family photos that I and others will be (tediously) scanning. For each photo I want to assign what amounts to tags by which the photos can be searched, galleried, and sorted. These tags are geographic, event, people, pets, etc. For example, a picture of three people and a dog at place X would include tags for all three people, the place, and the pet. In total I'm guessing we'd end up with about 100 tags.

I planned to use the category feature for this, but I find that I can only set three categories per image, which is not enough. I don't want to hand-type these tags, and the keyword field provided in Photopost doesn't work because it is free-form and I need others who are uploading photos to conform to a pre-defined set of tags so that we don't use different terms for the same thing.

Ideally, there would be a set of check boxes in the place of the open keywords field that are dynamically generated based on the tags I define.

Again, I planned to use the catergory feature for this, but it's limited to only three and I've read that it creates duplicate images rather than simply listing the same image in multiple locations.

Any help?

Why not use in admin edit categories an extra field and place your tag data there and then you can search for it on search page
