| Watermark deleting EXIF ??
Hello, I got a problem with photopost. I configured the whole gallery, made quite much customizations, but now in final I have this problem:
As soon as I turned on the watermarks, all newly added big pictures lost their EXIF informations. Is this a standard behaviour or could you help me solve this ?
Thanks in advance

Depends some more info about your install would help. Are you using jpegtran to strip the image headers. Are you using Imagemagick or GD2
If you want to display EXIF info have you installed jhead and extracing EXIF info?

hi, I use GD2. I don't use jpegtran nor jhead - The exif I display by php function.. I can paste here the code, but it is working properly if I turn watermarking off, even when I check the photos in ACDSee, the watermarked ones have exif empty, the rest is ok

So are you telling us you have hacked your code and it is not the default supported code?

I didn't hack anything. My webhosting doesn't support jhead, so I used php function exif_read_data instead. I have photopost legally bought, is there anything wrong with that ?
But the problem is not about exif displaying, it work pretty nice, the problem is, that the whole exif info vanishes, when I turn on the watermarking of images.

..i think, that when you watermark the image, you in fact create a new image with same dimensions, there you paste the original image and then watermark over it. So when its a new image, the exif info can be lost this way. Is this possible ?

Well if you modify the scripts sure its hacking.
Do you extract the exif info and store it in our exif table like the code is written to do or are you trying to read exif from a file that has already been altered by an image processor because if this is so then this is incorrect.
Image processors depending on what they are doing can alter the file so you always extract the exif info and store it before the image is processed
So your issue in reality comes down to the way you have hacked in exif support

thanks a lot for your tip, it was exactly the point .. i extracted the EXIF right from the foto, instead of storing it to DB before processing.
It works great now.
Just a small notice about that "hacking" - i consider hacking being something illegal, while in photopost licence is changing of source codes allowed.. so I would call it more customization than hacking..
but nevermind, thanks anyway

Yes we allow you do change your source code as you wish although technically in doing so you relinquish any rights to product support. For us to support your install you must be running the default code. We dont assist people with their code modifications.
