PP 562, RP, CL: Servermove error with paths

Hi

I just moved to a different server & webhoster. I backed up everything as mentioned in:

How to Move Servers and/or Change Directories

I imported all 3 databases of PP, RP, and CL (RP and CL is integrated in PP), I changed the path in config-inc and config-int etc.

Since I could not login to ACP, I changed all other absoute paths with phpmyadmin directly in the database of all 3 installations.

So far so good. I could login and all images etc have been there. Then I went within ACP to all options and config.

Surprisingly, there were stil the old paths of the old server visible. So I overwrote them with the new ones in RP and CL ACP. In PP ACP, all paths were fine without my intervention.

But since I changed these wrong paths in RP and CL, both do not work anymore. A message appears, that it does not find... with the old paths which I overwrote already. So this is totally confusing. PP is still fine, no problems.

What did I do wrong? The sites are already online, but in maintainence mode.

Thanks in advance

How to Move Servers and/or Change Directories

that is the tutorial on moving servers just as you linked it above

Now in reviewpost and classifieds it should be easier all paths are in the config integration and global settings. Photopost has the extra storage options.

You can post links here to help illustrate your errors.

mmmhhh

i just do not understad this. Wen I type the 2 normal url (not the "snoopy dummy" with the absolute path), I get a 404 error.

I am completely lost. How can it be that we both see diffeernt things on the same url?

Is it because the domainname was just moved yesterday to a different webhoster? Maybe it is a nameserver thing?

Hi Chuck,

when I went back to the site today, I could see it too. GREAT. That's a relief..

Thanks for your help.

There is only one issue left. Integration works except for Classifieds for the registration. If a user clicks on register, an alert comes:

"This script is only used for PhotoPost Classifieds's internal registration system.

I looked in the paths and everything seems to be o.k.

--------------

Server Path to Forum directory: path to PP
Server Path to PhotoPost directory: path to CL

URL to your forums: PP
URL to PhotoPost : CL URL
URL to your PhotoPost DATA directory: CL URL
PhotoPost Database Table Prefixes : CL prefix

--------------

If I login with an existing username, it gets accepted and is visible at the same time also in RP and PP. I can post ads etc.

A. Is this also a DNS thing or a real problem?

The other question:

I am planning to make a simlar domainname und servermove with my English sites. I do not want to wait again 2 days until the sites are accessable again.

B. Is there any trick I can do to avoid next time this DNS problem?

You can not avoid DNS issue. Your best time to switch a domain name is late at night and hope it resolves by the time you wake up it will take minimum 6-9 hours to propogate. In the old days it took up to 72 hours remember

Check the forum path your using in forum settings it better be your photopost url in there classifieds right. My guess is you have it set to classifieds url but your integrating with photopost right this is not a standalone right?

I am dying already with 9 hours, how did you survive with 72 hours in the good old time? Internet is frustrating...
