Adding category problem

Hi,

I'm having problems adding categories. Any attempt to add a subcategory, or add a new top level category results in the error:

"Error adding new category to the database. Returned id was 0."

There is no problem with users adding albums.

I've not tried using it until now so I don't know if it has ever been operational.

Any ideas

Rhys

v5.62 btw

In Admin => Global Options set the debug setting to display errors then try adding a category and tell us the exact error here

This is what I got:

We're sorry, but the system experienced an unrecoverable error. Please try again later.

Script:

Query: INSERT INTO pp_categories (id,catname,description,catorder,thumbs,parent,header,footer,headtags,password,ugnoview,ugnoupload,ugnopost,ugnoanno,ugnovote,watermark,sortorder,frames,maximages,ratingtype,ismember) VALUES(NULL,'testcategoryname','testcategorydescription','1','yes',1,'','','','', '', '', '', '', '', 'd:/webs/photopost/overlay2.png', '1', '0', '', '', '')

Result: Out of range value adjusted for column 'maximages' at row 1

Database handle: Resource id #5

Yep turning off strict mode should be fine

You can place suggestions for the products in their respective support forums under the suggestions subforum

It is mysql strict mode and your host could do that for you.

My hosting company won't allow me to do this with any of their shared hosting. Is there another workaround for it?

Do you have phpmyadmin access to view the actual database tables?

What is your exact error? Turn on admin global options debug setting to DISPLAY ERRORS.

See if you can post us your exact mysql error.

As the quoted statement says Go to Admin => Global Options and set the debug switch there to display errors and when you try adding a cat you should get the true error displaying now.

Similar problem here. I can add a new catagory if I manually go into my database but cant add it from the admin cp. I read about about the mysql safe mode being off. I checked that and it is set to off. But anyways here is what I get...

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Debug mode shows this...

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
