Private Albums and Album Thumbnails

So it seems that every time I upload an image to a album, the thumbnail image for the entire gallery changes to that image. For example:

<User> / <album>

When I upload to <album> the thumbnail for <User> changes to that last image I uploaded. Can I allow people to specify what the thumbnail for each album / gallery is?

Also, when a user makes an album private, the same problem applies except that the thumbnail disappears. But, the images show up in the "recent" area.

What version of the software you using

Your breadcrumb is right so there is no problem there.

If an album is private someone would not be able to see it you can provide link examples so we can see what your thinking is wrong

Okay, so it seems that now when I upload an image into a private gallery nobody but me can see it (which is obviously the intended behavior), but there is another problem. Since Photopost wants to set the gallery thumbnail to the latest image, which is private, nobody can click into my gallery. (I only have one private album in the gallery - there are others that are public.)

Here's a screenshot. You can also see the behavior at http://gallery.njpinebarrens.com/showmembers.php

Ideally, what I would like to see is the ability for people to specify what thumbnail is used for the galleries and albums. I know in the Menalto Gallery world they call the option "album highlight" or something close.

Okay and if you set your gallery to list view in show gallery options?

Do you want to show the Members Gallery in List format?

I will have to see how Michael wants to handle the last photo if someone can not view it

Same problem. The only clickable link brings you to the users profile, not their album (which, IMHO, I don't really like.) I'd rather have it in non-list view.

Thanks!

Any update on this? It's really pretty unusable if someone makes a private album.

hi chuck i deleted the code but still when an album is made private i think there should show a lock & when clicked it should take to a password which has to be entered to view the album. This is not happenning & currently taking us to a blank user profile page. Please help us ?? this is very important functionality which seems to be missing & there is no clear guidance in helping resolve the problem.

Hi Chuck
the thumbnail shows but its of NO USE, because when the thumbnail is clicked or the link below is clicked it should take a user to a page where they can enter the password , but now it only takes them to a userprofile page which is of no use & CONFUSES THE VISITOR.

I also think instead of the thumbnail, the users should see a lock.jpg & when clicked they should be asked to enter the password.

Are we talking the same page?

This discussion is the showmembers.php page not showgallery.php

The thumbnail on showmembers links to the users gallery not a private album so I think your maybe confusing this with your showgallery issue

Chuck Here is the problem i am facing, i create a private album & then when i logout and come back in as a different user, i click on the member galleries page ( which i believe is the showmembers.php ) and see that there is a private album without a thumbnail, once i click on the private album it takes me to a user profile page.

Specifically in the example i want to see a thumbnail on top of "bruset" ( this thumnail should have a lock image ) & then when i click on the thumbnail or on "bruset" i should be able to go to a page where i can enter the password ?

This is the real functionality of private albums, please make this possible, else the current functionality is not practical & confusing the visitors
