Strange error upon upload

Up until a few weeks ago I was able to upload photos with no problems. I have the latest version of Photopost Pro and I am on VB 3.6.5. I have not made any changes in months.

I am now receiving this error:

Sorry, this image type (6) is not supported yet.

It does this with every image type..jpg, jpeg, bmp, etc...
In the administration options I have all of the in there.
Could anyone shed som light before I go crazy. I spent three weeks tweaking settings and still nothing works.

Check to ensure your permissions are 777 on the data and uploads directory is 777 and verify your host has not changed anything in php.

Try clearing your uploads directory

Everything was 777.

There were a few files in the uploads/1/ directory, I deleted them and all is well again.
