Fixed width and height for thumbnails

I'd like to try a fixed width and height for thumbnails (ie. 125 x 70 / 70 x 125). Don't really care much about proportions. I don't think I can edit it in thumbnail.tmpl because it only gives me $mthumb. If someone can direct me to the file and line to edit, I'll take it from there.

Thanks a lot.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but in Upload Photo Options then Thumbnail image max width and height in pixels change it to the size you want. You will need to Rebuild all thumbnails to change the size once you edit the sizes

Thanks Flipmode, but that's not what I want. It does give you a fixed width and height for your thumbnails depending on orientation (portrait or landscape) but the resulting thumbnails are still not uniform depending on the size of the original picture. I want a uniform-sized thumbnails (using the generic thumbnail template) i.e. 125 X 70 for landscape and 70 x 125 for portrait regardless of the width and size of the original picture.

I think that's still confusing. Maybe I'll post some screenshots later to illustrate.

Thanks.

What you would want is code modification as you can not create all one sized thumbnails as in a crop of the center of a pic

Thanks Chuck. A fixed width and height instead of a crop should have been enough for me but anyway, I hope this will considered in future versions. I think Michael considered the "cropping" option once. I have seen a few websites that does cropping, a square thumbnail for example. I am getting off-topic now... thanks for the response.

Yes he did a crop function with same width height and no one liked it so he removed it.

I would have liked it but to each his own taste, I guess. But say you have a hundred features, you don't seriously expect all users to like all of them. That's why you have options. A "crop" feature would be good as an option.

Just an opinion Chuck, and I meant to offense nor disrespect to the Photopost developers .
