Question Blank Page After Server Move

I know this has been discussed a few times and the walk through posted by gholsie was a great help but I'm still having an issue after following his steps.

When I try to go to my new server the pages just come up as blank. The adm-index.php, index.php, all of them. I've logged into my account and gone through myPHPadmin, changing the paths there to the correct ones and corrected the path in the config-inc.php (I'm not linking to a VB or anything so there is nothing to fix in the config-int.php). I've doubled checked the chmod settings and even reinstalled everything from a fresh copy of the database that still sits on the old server. I even moved everything up a level, folder-wise, and still I only get a blank page.

In the posts here I've found people who have had the same issue but either what they found to be a fix doesn't work for me or they say they have fixed it without saying what they did.

Is there another file I should be editing or something I may be overlooking? Any help is appreciated.

Make sure your config-inc.php file has the correct server path in the $PP_PATH line and that the correct database settings are in the config file as well. Make sure the database has been transfered and the connect strings are correct and match the config file. If this is correct the page should load. Your domain is transfered?

The $PP_PATH was the first thing I thought might be wrong. Since this is an additional domain on my account (hosted on my main but using a dedicated URL) I thought that maybe the full path might be different or even the same as the original address but my host verified the path I am using is correct. I can log into phpMyAdmin and edit the database (that's how I changed full server paths since I can't access my admin panel). And the domain is transferred. I can access the site's generic HTML index page but when I try to go to index.php instead it is blank.

If this is your gallery something is not set according to that server move thread. Have you tried doing a new install?

I actually wasn't running it from a /gallery or a /photopost directory. Although I did receive the same error when I had the files at /photopost instead. Is it a requirement that it has to be in a sub-directory?

I thought of uploading the install.php and going through that but didn't know if that would make more problems.

Same thing though I dont see your gallery so where ever it is installed something is wrong. You might want to run through the install to try and correct any bad settings you might be missing. As long as the database exists you should not have an issue with losing Photos or categories etc. You can also turn on the PHP display_errors to ON in your php.ini file and restart the server to see the true error on that page. A white screen gives no one any error to work with here.

Not sure where the php.ini file is as I don't have one currently nor do I see one in my back-up files. I did run through the install and it through out a bunch of errors. They seem to be roughly the same error, duplicate entry. Here are the first couple:

Step 3: MySQL error reported: [INSERT INTO pp_categories (id,catname, description, catorder, thumbs, parent, children) VALUES (500,'Member Galleries','Individual user galleries - any photo category',1,'yes',0,'')]
Result: Duplicate entry '500' for key 1
Database: newlegiongallery

Step 3: MySQL error reported: [INSERT INTO pp_settings VALUES (1,'Title for your PhotoPost Application','galleryname','','My Photo Gallery',1,1)]
Result: Duplicate entry '1' for key 1
Database: newlegiongallery

Any ideas? And I really do appreciate the help.

duplicate errors are no big deal just run through install completely and of course the obvious make sure all the files and directories for Photopost exist

Finished walking through the install and got to Step 4, Configuring PhotoPost, filled out the information, click on Configure PhotoPost and...blank white screen.

The only file I can see missing would be the afore mentioned php.ini. I checked my old site, which is still online, and it does not have that file and it isn't in the upgrade to 5.62 that I just downloaded (the next step should I resolve this). Is the php.ini file one that would be server based? That I would not have access to.

php.ini is a server file not photopost

Your missing something for sure you might want to ask your host to check the server error logs and post what your error is so we can assist you.

You are either missing or have corrupt files or have something set wrong and the error they give you can help along way towards getting this resolved

I'll chat with their support and see if I can get error logs. I'll also do another back-up of the old server and files to make sure I didn't miss one or one isn't corrupted. I'm sure I'll be back. Thanks.

Support was no help as they say they don't record what errors are just that there was an error. Plus they don't offer server error logs as part of their service. So I re-exported my database again but as separate entries rather than the full db, then ran the install again and upgrade. Once I figured out I had to do the upgrade.php for each version since my last (was still on 5.1) everything worked out. Site is there as I wanted and uploads and old images work great.

I do appreciate the help. I do have one more question, not sure if this has been covered before. My logo seems to have disappeared. I had a banner logo prior to the upgrade that doesn't show now. I can't recall if there is a specific setting I need to check to make the image reappear again or if that is in the CSS or template.

Thanks Chuck. That was just me being my usual brilliant self. I forgot to change the server path for the footer and header. All fine now!
