unregistered users

This will probably confuse the heck out of you.....

I have a private members only site, with a couple different levels of membership. I only want access to view or use of gallery to "Full Members" only.

I have things set up pretty good and everything is working well. I just found a glitch that I was hoping to correct.

You can view the thumbnails and so forth as an unregistered guest (of course you can't go further. I thought this was normal until I ran this a test. All other levels of users to my site can not view the thumbnails or anything. If the view can be blocked to usergroups on my site, why can they not be blocked if you are not even registered? Is there a way to block view to unregistered guests?

Under registration options you can select not to show photos to people not registered.

This all depends on usergroup permissions as well if you do not want guests to view anything in edit category permissions for guests remove viewing priviledges.

If you are talking about "Require users to be registered to view images?" I have that set to yes.

I also have "Unregistered Users" unchecked in every category, and everything set to no in theier user group.

When I ran my test I ran through all the steps...

Made sure I was logged out and cleared all history and cookies etc...

As a Unregistered Guest I could view thumbnails (Of course when I clicked on them I got the correct message)

Then I registered as a member (great integration to my forums BTW) as a "Member" I should not be allowed to view anything and I couldn't so that works. All the thumbnails I saw as an unregiesterd guest were not visible when I registered....

....Does that make sense or did I confuse you

You can post urls here but if guests can view thumbnails then viewing permissions of the categories have not been unchecked.

Thats what I thought...I will look into it further, maybe because I am looking at it through my PC and IP it is showing me something that the general public is not seeing.

Thanks

While I am here May I ask another question...

I am setting up categories for travel destinations. Is there any way I can have folders or something to sort pictures by destination and so that multiple users can upload photos to that folder?

I know that I can make sub cats, but that could turn into quite a list over time....

You can not sort by destination or have folders without creating those said folders
