Photo Layout

I am having a problem getting the Photo size layout correctly. I want to show the image no larger than 800 pixs in size when going to the photo. But once at the photo if the user clicks on it then it opens to the full size what ever that may be. For some reason when I set the resize option if the user exceeds that upload size the shot gets resized even though he/she did not exceed that size. When I click on the shot the larger version is the same as the photo album size. I hope this made sense, sure didn't when I typed it!

If your medium size threshold is set to 800 your medium images will be 800 and they will then have to click medium to view the large. Now that is provided that the image they are uploading is over 800 wide or tall
