| jhead question
I have contacted my hosting company and they have jpegtran installed in /usr/bin/jpegtran but they do not have jhead installed
I followed the suggested link to jhead, is this the file I need Pre-built Linux executable (built on RH 9.0) or is it this one Pre-built freebsd executable?
Anyways I d/l this one Pre-built Linux executable (built on RH 9.0) right clicked and saved as and it wants to save as jhead.txt, so I saved it as jhead without the extension .txt
I FTPed it to my photopost directory so /home/****/public_html/photopost/jhead I made it executable then I used SSH and tried to check the version like this: You can also make sure that jhead is executable by trying to run it. type "./jhead -V". in the directory that has jhead in it
I get nothing so it doesn't seem to be executing it.
I also added the about link to the directory in photopost and enabled EXIF to show and I get nothing, I have ran the database scan for EXIF and it says none for each jpeg. I have uploaded jpegs and still nothing shows
Any ideas how to get this working, obviously I must be missing something. Maybe a server setting?

I can not guarantee prebuilt executables will ever work. I beleive they even say they may not as the flavors of linux are many.
I would suggest if you have SSH access compile the jhead program yourself from here http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/ |

First you need SSH access
Download this file jhead-2.7.tar.gz from the link Chuck posted
Make sure when you download it save it as jhead-2.7.tar.gz, windows wants to save it as jhead-2.7.tar.tar
Uncompress the file with winzip
FTP the files inside to your server and remeber where you put it
I created a temp folder in /public_html/tmp
Start SSH and change directory till you get to the directory where the file is located
so I typed cd public_html hit enter then cd tmp hit enter
Now I am in the directory my files are in
next type make and hit enter and it will compile a jhead file
Go back to your FTP and put that jhead file into your photopost directory and make sure you set it to executable
Then in photopost set the path to where you put the jhead file
Make sure you have EXIF set to yes as well in Photopost

I don't know a whole lot about SSH but it is like DOS for linux systems. I mainly use it for restoring database if I ever have to. You can also do some linux operations just like the one I just did for compiling the jhead file
Here is the jhead file I used. Now I do not know much about this and I have a feeling it will not work but you can try it out.
unzip and copy the file jhead to your phoopost directory make sure after you FTP it right click and set it to executable then in the admin panel of photopost add the path to it, something like this
/home/*****/public_html/photopost/jhead
Good Luck

You need to have SSH access to your server and compile the software on your server or have your webhost do it.
