Moving Servers / Directory Change

Hi all,

It looks like my server move didn't go as well as planned. I lost all of the images from my Photopost Pro system after the move. This happened when I attempted to regenerate all of the thumbnails!!

Anyway, can someone help me determine the best way to move a server?

I am running vbPortal, vBulletin, and Photopost Pro

Old server:
Plesk 8.0
Redhat Enterprise 3
Directory for Photopost: /home/httpd/vhosts/classiczcars.com/httpdocs/photopost

New server:
Plesk 8.1
Fedora Core 4
Directory for Photopost:
/var/www/vhosts/classiczcars.com/httpdocs/photopost

After moving all of the files and the databases I did the following:

- Modified config-inc.php
- Modified config-int.php
- Changed all of the directories in the web-admin panel under config

I then noticed that not all of my images were coming through, so, I modified the directory under STORAGE OPTIONS.

After that I recreated all of my thumbnails. And, now all of my images are gone!

Was this the correct method to move a server? Should I have not changed the storage options directory? That part was confusing.

Here's an update on my server move. It *STILL* isn't working right. I am finding the Photopost products (Photopost, Reviewpost, and Classifieds) to be the most problematic of my entire move. It's taking me much more time than I want...

Is there any technical support available for these products?

After I moved the files, I used the "Storage Options" feature, but, the 2nd time I selected "select here to revert to default"... This required me to select it twice, but, it appears to have worked.

I can now see the graphics in my gallery, but, not all of the member galleries are working. Most of them show no thumnails (black).

I am at a loss right now and really need to get this going again. We have many thousands of pictures and want to bring them back online.

Without any links, I can only assume that some of the paths are still not correct. You'll probably need to restore your database again and then go through your settings table to make sure you get all your settings.

There isn't a "how to move servers" instruction manual; but while you did most of the steps, you'd probably need to check the pp_settings table anyways to make sure you got everything.

Thanks for the reply, Michael. I didn't post links yet because my gallery isn't open due to the problems. However, the link is: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost

Do you have a list of settings that need to change when a server move and directory move has been done?

I'm thinking about putting something together, but, wanted to make sure I didn't miss any steps in the process above.

You can use phpmyadmin and see the settings which use a path.
