New search result display

Hello,

Do you have plans in the next release to offer the option of displaying search results the way they were before, thereby accomoditing the small sites like mine?

If yes, when can we expect that release?

If no, why not?

Thanks
Jens

You can place a suggestion in the suggestions forum on this. I can not speak for the developer of Photopost but I can say in a support manner the code is not backwards compatible. The way we did searches before does not exist anymore and things are done completely different

There at least 3 threads in the Suggestions forum, none of which have been replied to by a developer.

Isn't this a case of how the search results are displayed rather than how the search is done?

The search results in "list" format is appropriate for your Classifieds application because the text is more important than any thumbnail provided.

For the PhotoPost application where pictures are the most important thing, search results in "gallery" format makes more sense.

To illustrate why this is a step in the wrong direction ...

I put together an Aftermarket Wheel Gallery on MINI2. Please click here to read the instructions on viewing and searching this album.

Look at a particular search result from the previous release ...

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
and then click here to see results from the same search today.

The 15 rows per page on the "list" format equates to 60 images per page under the "gallery" format. What would have displayed on 2 pages the old way now takes 7, and the titles have disappeared on the search results.

All the hard work I put into setting up this album is pretty much for naught.

We have another feature that uitilized "Custom Views" which has to be redone because of the search results format change.

Please consider restoring the "gallery" search results format.

I beleive the sticky thread in the suggestions forum clearly states the developer of the application will not necessarily respond to suggestions.

There is a huge reason that search changed mainly performance and I am staying away that discussion.

Only thing I am going to say about your site is why does your search look like that

http://www.mini2.com/galleries/searc...d=1869&cpage=2

where is all your information? Your missing titles and descriptions

This is the default search in Photopost 5.62 and how it looks

Good question as the photos contain titles and descriptions ...

http://www.mini2.com/galleries/showp...hp?photo=17010

Why is the information being included in some search results as posted previously and not others?

Seems like a bug to me

We're talking apples and oranges here. The problem is specific to searching for the character set "[]" as being discussed in the following thread ...

Hello Chuck,

Getting back to the original question of this thread, have any plans been made to make the option available to display search results in gallery format?

Thanks
Jens

Jens the answer to that is no since we are nowhere near a beta session on Photopost where the developer would even look at this and decide whether he wants to do that or not

Chuck - would you kindly convey to the developer my interest in having the gallery display as an option in the admin setup? I would appreciate it.

The suggestion is there in the suggestions forum. We are not in a development cycle right now so if something like this was to make its way into Photopost it will not be anytime soon I can say that.

Hi Chuck,

Sorry to intrude in like this. But I am keen to learn when the active development cycle would start and more new features would be added to PhotoPost. I am using it on my website and I would really like to have as much features as possible - I know PP has got tons of features, but I am talking about various suggestions, etc posted in the suggestions forums.

When a beta cycle starts we announce this publically. I have no information on this as I am not the developer for Photopost Pro. I develop Reviewpost and Classifieds
