EXIF information in standalone setup

Hi,

I'm not running any integration, I'm just running a standard setup. What I'd like is to show EXIF information. The option is currently "ON", but there is no EXIF information showing.

Running PhotoPost Pro v5.2 on Windows 2003 Server, IIS6.0, php and MySQL (latest).

There is an option in the Admin menu to specify the path:

/usr/bin/jhead

I don't have this on my Windows system. Is there a Windows substitute?

Here's my page: http://www.dansmith.ca/gallery

Thanks,
Dan

We run Linux but I'm pretty sure that jhead is available for Windows as well.....pause....see:

Appears to be a Windows version there.

I sort of answered my own question. I downloaded both the jpegtran.exe and jhead.exe applications for Windows, and placed them in a folder in my gallery, and pointed the URL to the executable in this manner:

/gallery/jpegtran/jpegtran.exe
/gallery/jhead/jhead.exe

Seems to work fine - I am not getting any error messages, but I'm still not getting any EXIF information, and the option is turned on.

I also re-scanned the database and had it rescan images for EXIF information, to which I received a confirmation for the last 20 or 30 images and it said, "None". I KNOW there is EXIF information in these photos, because they came right off my camera!

Any ideas?

Sorry, not familiar enough with Windows to be able to answer the EXIF issue now that you have the exe's installed but generally speaking, you don't want to put executables in publicly accessible areas under your html root.

Likely more secure to keep them outside of the web root. That way if there is a security issue with the exif program itself, it won't be directly accessible/exploitable by the outside world.

I wanted to be sure it worked before I used it, that's why I only put it in this temporary location.

Thanks for the reply.

Did you use full server path to those executables? It looks to me your paths are relative

After doing that you can run the extract exif data in scan database in admin
