Password reset

Greetings!

I clicked the link to reset the admin password and got a message that the new password had been sent to the admin email, but it never came. It's neither in the inbox, nor in the spam folder.

Is there a way to reset the admin password via ftp?

Cheers.

No you can try checking your spam filters and such and making sure to add your domain name to the list and try resetting it again.

What reset admin password link did you use? I am only aware of the one on install.

Hmm... I clicked the user name "admin" and there was a link next to the username to reset password. I use gmail and it doesn't normally send mail from photopost to the spam folder. There's just no email anywhere.

I've basically been locked out of admin. There must be a way to reset the admin password?

Okay so your using the regular user password forgot option.

You need to use that feature and reset the password. Does your host require the user who is sending the email to be from your domain? If you get no errors the email should be sent. This sounds to me like a mail issue with the server as I have tested the forgot password function and I get an email and can reset the password this way. If you know how to run a query you could email me and if you give me a generic password I could give you a query to set the password to that password md5'd of course then you should be able to get it.

Hello Chuck, there are two other copies of photopost running on the same dedicated server and there has never been a problem with receiving mail.

I don' know how to run a query, but if you tell me exactly what is required, I can ask my server admin to do it.

well the password stored in the database is md5 so you need to tell me is this a forum integration or standalone etc and a generic password you want to use until you reset it again after you get in. This is definately an email issue that I see as testing the function results in use sending an email. If this is a forum integration your issue is with the forum and not photopost.

No, it's not a forum integration, but standalone. We can use admin as the password. I have no idea what md5 is.

It's hard to believe it's taking this much time and effort to reset the admin password.

Sorry I'm just reading the threads here but I'm confused. You don't appear to have given Chuck anything to work with but you're expecting him to do something?

What am I supposed to give? I've asked what information he'd like me to get from my server admin. This is my third Photopost license - My fourth license if you count classifieds which I no longer use.

This is a brand new standalone installation. I followed instructions in admin to reset the password, I've checked the inbox and the spam box and there's no email. Google does not delete emails, but moves them to the spam folder. Nothing arrived in the spam folder.

I can't understand why it's so complicated to tell me what to do to reset the password. This is a surprise that I wanted to present to a friend today and I'm disappointed that I posted this request early this morning and there's still no resolution.

I've reset vb and joomla passwords and have not experienced this frustration. I need to change the admin password and it shouldn't be rocket science for the creators of the software to guide me on how to do so or am I totally not understanding this?

Any response by us depends on answers to questions I have asked and I gave an outline above on various scenerio's dependent upon your answers.

Now based on the questions I asked but did not get a response from as pistebasher even pointed out to you I did a little research into our licenses and from my investigation your running this gallery correct?

http://gallery.shwing.com/

That gallery is tied in with vbulletin and as such resetting admin password and all that has to do with vBulletin and not Photopost since all user registration and accounts are handled by the forum. If your having a password reset issue in vbulletin you might want contact their support. If your gallery is not integrated with vbulletin as I am seeing please point me to this gallery as I had asked and please answer and questions in post 6. I had already posted I see no issues with Photopost internal registration password reset but would gladly give you a query to run if you where having email issues which this looks like to get you back in.

Chuck, you are assuming the new license I purchased was for my site. it has absolutely nothing to do with my site. I've owned both shwing licenses a long time and they are vb enhanced. This is a completely new standalone installation for a completely different site.

Is it okay that I can own photopost for my site and perhaps want to get one for a friend as a gift because I happen to think it's a good piece of software?

I would rather not post the site here and have emailed the URL instead.

As noted you have given us nothing to work on in this thread hense as pointed out by another user there is no way to assist you unless we have this info so I am going on the info I can based on the site that I see. Which is where I pulled up shwing.com

No matter how this plays out you seem to have an email issue on that server or a spam filter issue since I have thoroughly tested the reset password feature and it works.

Now you can get your server guy to run a query like this to reset the password to say password and you can temporarily login to change it to what you want by running this query
