Showing exif information

Two things:

I'm running PP Pro 5.5 integrated with vBulletin. Is there a way of making exif information, when present, show by default instead of the viewer having to click on the link to show it?

Secondly, I've created a new category (Black and white at: http://dpnow.com/galleries/showgallery.php/cat/622) and people are finding that when copying pre-uploaded images to the new category that the exif data isn't retained. I have had to do a rescan to fix this. Naturally I'd like the exif data to be retained (and displayed by default).

Any suggestions please?

Thanks,

Ian

You would have to created some hack to go back to the pre AJAX exif feature as present forward it is only displayed if you click show exif.

I think if you do a search on exif here they may be a hack or something someone did

Any comment on why the EXIF data isn't preserved when copying to a different category?

Not really the exif table only has two fields photoid and exifinfo

If I have exif info on a photo and move it to a different category it shows.

Is there a difference between moving and copying. So far it's definitely 'copying' to a new category where the exif disappears.

I haven't tried moving.

Thats easy now you say that. The way the optional categories feature works the original photo is the photo and any comments or exif info is not going to appear on the new photo since that info is stored on the original photo. Just the way the storeid storecat variables work. They allow you to show a photo in multiple categories.

That kind of sounds like the exif info shouldn't appear ever in a secondary category? But I can make it appear by using the database scan option.

I just wish I didn't have to do that.

You can not copy exif data or comments to another photo. The copy to another category uses a dummy photo insert hense the photo is different although the physical photo only exists one place. scanning exif will do the trick cause it looks for exif on each photo insert hense your doing a rescan
