Large Images I am the webmaster for the Larchmont Historical Society and our photo archive is at http://images.larchmonthistory.org/ We are planning to scan some very old newspapers, and I am exploring using our photopost site as the way to make them available. The challenge is that the images are large. I can make a 1700 x 2400 pixel graytoe image that is about 250K that is reasonably clear. I have two questions. 1. What are the limits, if any, to the file and image size settings. I find that if I make them gradually larger, that eventually the image conversion process does not work and I get an error message. 2. I find the clicking on the image to see a larger version works in some situations and not in others. Should this be a consistent feature across different browsers? Ned Benton |
The only file limits your constrained by is your server's PHP setup. By default without modifying your PHP I beleive that is your limited to a 2mb file upload. |
mogrify If I change the Upload Photo settings to max width 1800 max height 2200 trigger medium 2000 the photo uploads, but when it processes I get this error Error creating resized original! Command: "/homepages/7/d102497889/htdocs/imagemagic/bin/mogrify" -quality 70 -geometry 1464x1800 '/homepages/7/d102497889/htdocs/photopost/data/516/CDS_19190901-19200630_0003.jpg' Error code: 9 If I make the values smaller, I don't get this error. Any suggestions? Ned Benton |
I have never seen an error code 9. I would have to see what I can find opn the imagemagick site |
