How Do I Fix My Header

Again I am new and trying to restyle the gallery that was installed and configured by someone else.

The gallery is interegrated with a phpbb forum.

I noticed the person that set this up is using the announcement box to display the header (which only shows on the main page of the gallery)

I would like to actually use a header that will show on each page of the gallery. I've put the correct path for the header html file in the Global options. However the header is still not showing.

I tried the Edit Header and I get this

Unable to create or fix permissions for the file: http://www.scrapbookersplayground.co...eryheader.html

Correct the permissions or set the file path in the Admin Global Options.

Can anyone direct me on what I need to change to begin using the header the correct way.

Thank you!
Colleen

header problem

Colleen - Hi! I am a fellow scrapbooker and am having the same problem getting my gallery set up. I noticed in your post you said you have the correct path for the header html file set up in the global options - I do not even know what that is! Is that just a link to your image file for your logo or banner? Were you able to customize the colors for the rest of the gallery. I only see where I can choose from maybe 8 color options in the layout options category. I would really appreciate any help!

Yes I was able to change the colors in my gallery.

I went in and edited the css file and put in the codes for the colors I wanted, as well as the font size. I had to play around with it a little to figure out what sections I needed to change. Basically what I did is...

I did is I opened my header in my PSP so I could select colors I wanted. I did a print screen of my current gallery and put it in psp. Then I would find the color in the gallery I wanted to change and get the html code. I would open the css file I was using (you might want to duplicate it so you have an original) and search for that code...then I would replace it with the color code I wanted.

As for in the Global Options there is a place that says

File Header HTML and I put the path to my html header file but it is not pulling (I assume that the person before me did some coding that was causing this not to work but I'm not sure if this is the case)

I'm more then happy to help you personally if you would like. You can contact me at colleen@scrapbookersplayground.com

Unable to write or correct permissions means you need to set the proper path to your header and then make the file writable 666 on the server then you can edit it through the photopost admin.

header problem

Hi - I would love it if you would help me get my header set up. I have a .gif file that I used for the banner on my other web pages - but frontpage makes it simple (insert photo - enter!) when I start seeing html and other such codes, I get a little overwhelmed.

so... I go into global options and select the header path tab and enter what?

Thanks - Kelley

p.s. I tried to email you but it was returned - hope you check back here since it sounds like your problem was solved. Thanks. KM.

If I may be so bold as to add my hat in the ring for headers and recolouring...

I'm editting one of the css sheets to match the colours I've used on my forum, but for the life of me I can't find the reference to the colour in the top bars (eg, the background colour of the top cell of the Calender - where it says the date).

I'm in the dark re: css, I'm just playing with things and experimenting, but if someone can give me a pointer here, I'd appreciate it...

kmickus, unless I'm mistaken it's just asking for the path to wherever you have the image for the header stored, yes/no?

Alright, ignore me on the colour thing, something clicked and I realised the main bars were stretched gifs rather than a table fill.

Tommorrow I tackle the header!

Hi - I'm glad someone has it figured out. When I edit the colors I seems to change things in my admin box but when I go to the actual gallery all the colors remain the same!

As far as the header goes - I guess I just don't understand the whole path concept! my file is on my desktop as a jpeg and also in Frontpage as a .gif but I don't know what to enter for a path... did you figure yours out?

Make sure both your header and stylesheets are set to writable on the server 666 so you can make changes and yes server path to header.htm looks something like this

/var/www/html/photopost/header.htm

Hello

that is not a server path or a header file. You need to create a header file with html to load and place server path to that file in global options. I gave an example of a server path above and there is a sample header.htm file in the photopost directory one can use. You change file permissions to 666 via your ftp client .
