aMember and Photopost

Can I somehow make a program like aMember recognize each category of a photopost installation as a separate folder, thus allowing me to set separate access and payment methods for each category (folder) - or would I have to run several photopost installations side by side, in separate folders, to get this to work?

Maybe something you might want to ask at amember site. Only they would know this but I believe the answer is no it can not.

What about...

1) Set up a Photopost usergroup for each category
2) Change the permissions of each category to be accessible by only the relevant usergroup
3) use aMember to issue membership for the specific usergroups.

I dont think amember issues multiple level usergroups now does it. To my knowledge as stated amember is a subscription service that locks down a directory and uses a subscription manager to register a user and place that user in the programs user table if you have the module in there so every member that amember writes to my knowledge is usergroup 4

Best to ask amember what there functionality can do

The aMember software will protect actual, physical directories. Thus, if photopost was somehow able to create a directory for each category, this idea of mine might work...

The amember software to my knowledge works exactly as I posted right above and hense it will not work like you want but if you want to be exactly sure you need to ask amember as that is not a software product of ours. It is a global product meaning it sells a subscription and places a user in our users table and locks our photopost directory. There are no options to give different permissions that I am aware to different directories.

Rids was on the right track.

3rd item down on this page:

http://www.amember.com/integration.php

"Different usergroups support - YES"

And if for some reason that won't work, your needs can definitely be met by throwing vbulletin integration into the mix and setting your amember supscriptions to tie into vbulletin usergroups. I know this because I'm doing the exact same thing with my set-up.

Yes, amember can protect physical directories if that is what is needed (using either php sessions or htaccess control) but it does a heck of a lot more with the available third-party integrations.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

~Regs.

@rids -
@regs -

Thanks for this guys - this knowledge sure helps although I can´t quite find directions on how to implement this (I don't know the first thing about programming and databases etc...). I´ll get it touch with aMember and ask them for directions on this.

Thanks much

Jens

aMember will in fact recognize individual usergroups in Photopost. You can limit access to individual usergroups simply by selecting them from a drop down menu in "Edit product". See attachment.

I absolutely do love Photpost and aMember together - they are a match made in heaven.
