| PNG and TIF Image Problems
I am using Imagemagick for Image processing and am experiencing the following problems:
1) PNG thumbnails work correctly, but when I click on the thumbnail, the medium image is not displayed in Showphoto.
2) TIF thumbnails are not working, the original filename with the .tif extension is displayed in lieu of the thumbnail (white text on a black background). Clicking this "thumbnail" does not generate an image in Showphoto.
GIF and JPG images seem to work properly.
Thanks,
Michael

Not all servers have support for all formats installed.
You most likely have no tif support and need to remove tif as an acceptible format and even png might be an issue as well but would need to see links here
When asking for support the following is needed usually
1. full description of the issue in as much detail as possible
2. link to your photopost install
3. test regular user login so we can see photos etc upload.

I'm using Powweb since it was one of the recommended sites on the main Photopost website - I assumed that would mean full support of the Photopost features. If Photopost and Imagemagick support the 4 image types, what server deficiencies might be the problem?
I described the problem in as much detail as I can in the first post. Is there anything else I can add?
My installation is: http://www.trophypix.com/gallery.
One your point number 3, do I need to create a "test" acccount and then provide you the username/password in a post in this thread? Or, do I PM that info to you (I do see where you don't want PMs).
Finally, on a related subject, are JPEGs and JPGs identical? I'm not sure whether to add JPEGs as a valid file type.
Thanks,
Michael

We can not comment on how or what server related softwares a host has installed.
Yes post the user here
JPEG and JPG are different and if you want jpeg to be uploaded place the extention in upload options

Chuck,
You can login and troubleshoot the image processing/watermark problems by logging in as follows:
Username: TestUser
Password: test
Again, the link is http://www.trophypix.com/gallery
Thanks for your help,
Michael

Not much to diagnose there. If you can not process png and tif images with Imagemagick it means your host does not have those installed. You can set your processor to GD2
I would suggest you check your uploads and data directories set them to every level beneath 777
You can also delete all directories underneath uploads
Uploads dont work at all on your server that I see like file uploads is OFF

Chuck,
There's some really weird stuff going on. I haven't made any configuration changes since the other nite when I was successfully uploading images (at least JPGs). I tried the TestUser account a few minutes ago and it said Image Successfully Uploaded (or something to that effect), but the JPG image did NOT get uploaded. I saw the 2 images you attempted to upload during this process. The upload also failed on a 2nd attempt.
So, I logged out and tried another account. The first attempt failed, but the second attempt was succesful.
I then tried again under the TestUser account thinking it was a temporary bug and indeer the first attempt worked. You can verify by seeing the image in the TestUser Member Gallery. Alas, a 2nd attempt failed. All of these uploads were with JPG files. When subsequent uploads are attempted, the previous "failed" images show up in the upload queue.
Any idea why the site might be behaving erratically during the Image Upload processing? It has been pretty steady for the past few weeks during my configuration and checkout activities and I am not changing configurations related to Image Processing.
Thanks,
Michael

They just updated your server 5 weeks ago http://www.trophypix.com/phpinfo.php
I would suggest you have all the proper paths in global options and storage options and set the uploads and data directories to 777 at every level beneath
Try using GD2 as the processor
Basically what I see is the uploads are being dropped or the PHP process. You might want to ask your host about any changes they have made that could cause this

Chuck,
I want to stay with Imagemagick for 2 reasons:
1) This is one you pointed out yesterday where GD is part of PHP and sometimes causes upload failures.
2) Imagemagick supports GIFs.
The site was working beautifully with Imagemagick for a few weeks before the troubles that started on the 29th - the day you attempted to upload some images. I later ran into the same type of problems, but WAS able to get a few successful uploads. Note that uploads seem to be working fine now. I just uploaded 5 pics into several different categories/galleries. Would the fact that I was able to upload even one image last week and that now they are working fine rule out the path issues and also the directory permission issues?
If so, any idea what might have been going on last week? Until I understand what caused the problems, I'm hesitant to officially open the site.
I will modify the directory permissions if you really believe that might be the problem. I have not changed anything related to permissions since you initially installed the program a couple months ago. I also have not changed any of the path settings since you performed the install.
Please advise on your recommended path forward given this new info. I will continue testing but really would like to know some of the things that could have caused the problems. Are these kind of problems (intermittent image upload failures) common on other user's sites?
Thanks for your help,
Michael

If your working now then thats fine. As noted if try out different image types with your imagemagick and you make sure under allowable image types you place only the extentions you can upload.
