User Created Photo Topics/Threads

We're currently running PhotoPost v5.3 with vB forum integration "PhotoPost PHP vB3 Enhanced"

I'm looking for a way to have user created topic groupings for photos. I've found that all the Photopost sites I've seen have all pre-defined Admin created topics with no real way for the user to create a topic to bind multiple photos together.

For example, our customers do lighting for big Concert tours and other events. I want have a generic Category for Concert Photos and then the Users create Topics within there for a specific Concert or Event that just shows the photos from that event. Just as you have a Forum and a User can create a thread....except using photos instead.

How do we do this with Photopost?

Thanks.
Scott

Chuck,

Right....but that would just dump everything into that the same pre-defined category. What I need is a way for a user to create a sub-category or topic to contain the group of photos they are posting....in the same way someone creates a thread to discuss a specific topic within a forum.

When you take a bunch of photos you not only categorize them by major pre-defined topics...i.e. Work, Family, Vacation...you then create subfolders within each of those to put the photos from a specific event. What I'm looking for is a way for users to create those subfolder topics. Rather than having everyone toss photos from all different events into a general pre-defined category pool.

Thanks for the reply Chuck.

Do you understand the type functionality I'm looking for? Not necessarily users creating "Categories" per se but being able to create some type of folder grouping by topic or event within a category (sub-categories?)....some way for users to create some order and grouping of their photos within a topic beyond just a single personal album or the chaos of a Category with no user-creatable subjects or topics to group photos within that Category.

Seems like an enormous shortcoming to not have that and am surprised the product would have made it this far without it....which makes me think surely the functionality must be in there somewhere.

Your users can't create subcategories in your forum can they? No software I know of allows a user to create a category or sub category on a site.

yes I know what you want but thats beyond as you see what the software's intention is as it is a photo community

I would think that Users being able to create Albums within a general category would be a very common thing.

Does vBGallery support this?
