Quick Reply Comments Box Size

Hi there! I'm losing what's left of my hair trying to find where to make the Comments box on this page smaller. Please help! Thanks!

Chuck S September 12th, 2006 12:05 PM

In your quickcom.tmpl you can change the rows and columns for the message box.

Thanks, Chuck! I changed quickcom.tmpl everywhere I could find it...in the admin interface and the two places in the actual .tmpl pages on the web server. But it hasn't changed. I don't know where else to look. Any ideas? Thanks!

well I cant see your comments box on your site but you no doubt want to make sure your changing the vb3enhanced template this line.

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.

Thanks, Chuck! That's the line that I changed. I took it from 40 wide to 20 wide. Still hasn't changed and still blowing out the page. I've uploaded some images to illustrate. Thanks!

Chuck S September 12th, 2006 02:12 PM

well I need to see your page source to see what you did as the bold variables I laid out change the size.

thirtytwo16 September 12th, 2006 02:17 PM

Ok...here's the whole page.

Here it is...

Have you tried the width smaller than 400?

thirtytwo16 September 12th, 2006 02:31 PM

Yep...nothing I do on that page made any difference. I put it down as low as 100, and nothing changed.

Chuck S September 12th, 2006 02:52 PM

post a test user login here so I can see your page

Your sure your editing your vb3enhanced quickcom template?

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.
This html print out shows me your setting it to 600 wide. You can also control the width of this in your vbulletin option settings in vb admin

thirtytwo16 September 12th, 2006 08:31 PM

Absolutely. here's the path to the file I'm editing:

/public_html/photopostgallery/templates/vb3enhanced/quickcom.tmpl

And the lines 192 to 194 include the following code:
Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.
So maybe this is controlled in Vb somewhere. Any idea where I can look in there to find it?

Thanks!

View the html of your page to see what I mean.

You can as I stated before in vbulletin admin options specify the size of the text box.

thirtytwo16 September 13th, 2006 11:04 AM

Thanks, Chuck! Well, I went into vB admin and changed the size of the only text box I could find. It worked to change the size of the reply/post box in vB, but again...the Quick Comment box in PhotoPost didn't change? I don't know where else to look.

Chuck S September 13th, 2006 11:27 AM

The html of your Photopost page is definately saying the box size is 600

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.
In fact it is not even following our template as see how your html rows and columns are backwards. Its like it is loading some vbulletin template instead of our vb template which is weird. Do you have any special vb template sets?

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.

thirtytwo16 September 13th, 2006 11:33 AM

Right....but that's what's driving me nuts. In the PhotoPost admin, I have it at 40/400. In the actual .tmpl page, I have it at 40/400. but then it's echoing the 60/600 on the live page. I don't know where else to look.

Chuck S September 13th, 2006 11:40 AM

yes but as my last post stated looking at the html thats being echo'd on your site and what our template is its not loading our template which is extremely strange to say the least here. If I look at my quickreply on my site I can change it as noted above.

Chuck S September 13th, 2006 12:07 PM

In your vbulletin styles admin this variable set to what you want

Message Area Width (pixels) (This value allows you to specify the width in pixels of the text box used for all message posting in vBulletin)
