| Photo Upload Category Selector List
I moved the Member Galleries to the bottom of the top tier categories, but when a user posts a pic, the Member Galleries is the top/default category in the Selector list. Is there a way to move Member Galleries to the bottom in the Category Selector list?
My ideal solution would be to only allow selection of any category EXCEPT member gallery and have Photopost automatically also post in the Member's gallery (or in one of his albums).
Are either of these scenarios possible?

You can remove upload ability to the members gallery in edit categories therefore users can only upload to your cats.
You can select in Admin => Show Gallery Options set this setting to YES and the members gallery will show all a users photos.
Do you want Members Gallery to show all of a users photos?

Yes, I want Member Gallery to show all of the user's uploaded pics. Do you see a downside to this?
I am not quite following your first two steps. Could you provide a little additional info (especially the first one). If I implement those 2 steps, will I achieve my desired functionality?
Thanks,
Michael

This graphic shows what I'm looking for. The primary category selector list would NOT include Member Gallery, but the program would always copy the pic to the member's gallery. If the user has albums, then he would be able to select an album IN ADDITION to the main public category. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
Finally, I can envision a Mod that would modify the upload category/album select functionality as follows:
1) The primary cat-selector list would never show Member Gallery
2) Modify the existing text that says "or if you would prefer to upload to one of your albums, select one here" to "Select Member Gallery/Album". If the user has no albums, the default would be "Member Gallery" but there would also be an option for "None". If the user has albums, then the default would still be "Member Gallery", but all albums and "None" would also be options.
Speaking of Mods, are there some folks around that could handle changes like this? That's assuming I can't achieve my desired functionality with standard configuration options.
Thanks so much,
Michael

If you do the two things I note in post 2.
In edit categories set in permissions when editing members gallery that no one can upload to it and then set where noted in showgallery options that the members gallery shows all a users photos.
I think that would be where you want to be

I think that would be where you want to be | I've had this set so that only Admins can upload images to the "member galleries" but still ended up with 53 pages full of images uploaded by the members in the last 12 months. How is this possible?

Then even though the photos are uploaded to other cats they will appear in the members gallery. If you do not want them to appear then turn this off.

Noooo, the images were physically uploaded to "member galleries" somehow, I just moved some 680 of them to another category using the Bulk Actions in the admin panel. This was with permissions set to that nobody should have been able to upload to member galleries except the admins. Most users managed to upload to the correct categories (thank God, or I would have had thousands of images to move) but some seem to just leave the category selection at default when uploading and that seem to send the images into the members galleries folder.

Someone can only upload an image directly to the image gallery if you set upload permission for them to do so otherwise they will not see the members gallery to upload so recheck those permissions.

That's what I thought, which is why I was amazed that all those images had got loaded into "member galleries" when the members that uploaded them didn't have permission. I'm 100% certain that only Administrators had permission to upload there, although that's a bit pointless as Admins seem to bypass the permission system anyway.
I wish I could check it exactly as it was before but all of these images were uploaded under version 5.5 (or earlier) and I've just upgraded to 5.62. I did just set things up as they were, ie. member galleries are visible on the index page, member galleries show all of a user's images and permissions were set to admin only. I then logged in as a test user and things were as they should be, member galleries didn't show up in the category selector during uploads. Unless there was a problem with an earlier version then it remains a complete mystery because it all seems to be working as designed now - I'll just keep an eye on things and see if one of these clever users manage to do it again |
