Automate the Category Creation?

I am about to populate my categories but there are tons of them to keep things organized so i was wonder if there is a quick way to do this since I have the list already in a word document. Any ideas? Thanks!

Ok, my only thought would be with a SQL query, but im not that knowledgable with SQL to know how.

well there is more than a sql query here as we also physically create a category in the data directory on the server when a cat is created
