| I'm moving my vB forum
Here is the scenario.
I have mysiteforum.com and I'm moving to mysitexxxforum.com
I'm impexing all of my old data to the new site so I can start from scratch.
I've been told that if that is done I will lose my PP stuff b/c all of the userids change and what not since their is no migration tool for PP.
What options do I have?

You are correct your userid's will change. You would need to reintegrate pp with the new forum and use the userfix script to reassign userid's in vb3 located in our import forum

Is there any chance I could pay for some sort of support on this, I'm moving a fairly large DB and could use the help.

Moving domains and servers. Installing a fresh vb, impexing all the new data.

well if your using Impex to import your forum your easiest way to do things is this.
I am assuming your not moving the forum database only using external mysql connection to connect and grab the info. So do this
backup and restore your photopost database and folder onto the new server. You need to edit your config files and update the server paths to the photopost directory and place any new mysql info to connect to photopost database you restored and the new vb database in there.
You then set folder permissions etc. You should be able to login and then update in global options and storage options to the data and uploads folders to the new ones
You can then once your everything is displaying correctly run the userfix script in our import forum as noted to realign the userid's which are changed by the vbulletin impex script in vb.

What do you mean by moving the forum database?
We are creating a whole new forum database to import the data into.

You may be able to use an external mysql database and use vbulletin's impex script to import your forum database to the new server but you still need to physically move the photopost database to the new server

Well let me throw this in the fire that I forgot.
We keep our DBs on different servers than our domains so the photopost DB won't even move. We are just creating a new vB DB to import data into for the members/threads/posts etc. etc.
So technically I will just make sure the paths are correct which I guess they really wouldn't change and just run the user fix import script here at PP.

whichever as far as photopost you just need to realign the userid's since using the vb impex script will change them in vb |

Chuck thanks for the help incase I haven't said it yet. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row.
Another question. I'm installing fresh files on the new site. And I'm fixing to upload all the PP files and what not. I should be able to go in later after I import the vB data and change the settings in PP to point to the old database after the fact right?

If your moving photopost as states backup your photopost directory and restore it to the new server and update the config to the new database settings and server paths etc

well thats the thing. the photopost DB is staying on the remote server but I wanted to go ahead and setup a "dummy" db on the domain server just so I could install PP and then later change the settings to reflect back to the remote server.

all you do is transfer the photopost directory and edit the config and update the database info since it will be different now using an external mysql host no doubt.

Ok Ok I think I got it. But I got a bit ahead of myself and started tinkering.. LOL
I have my new vb up and running (db on remote server) . So I installed PP on the same db with the pp_ prefix. And I had everythin perfect and it all worked correctly and was a typical "fresh" install.
But I decided to try to change the setting to look at the old db without thinking about the vb path for the members db and I got this error: Quote:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'nobody@zelda' (Using password: NO) in /gallery/pp-inc.php on line 193
I cannot connect to the Members database.
| So I changed the setting back to what I had and I still get that error. Is it caching somewhere?

You need to set in the config-inc.php file the proper database settings for photopost and the forum it appears your forum database details are incorrect.

It may appear that way but I have both set to:
$database="cruise_vb36";
and that is the new db. the old db is cruise_vb

Either the host username password or database name are incorrect. It has everything to something is incorrect about what you have in there.

The username and password for the DBs are both the same. Only the db name would change. And they are. I have checked both paths 100 times and they both say _vb36

Your user database information supplied is incorrect. You need to relook at this and check against the working vbulletin config file.
