How Do Templates Work?

Was wondering how header/footer templates work? Can they include left or right margins, or do they strictly go above and below the photopost primary content? Do they need to include "codes" as to where the Photopost content goes?

Thanks In Advance,
Michael

The header or footers can be whatever html or code you can dream up. They can include a sidebar or none that would be up to your html skills.

Thanks, but how do I define/layout where the Photopost content goes?

For example, on my ASP-based classified ad site http://www.mclainoutdooradventures.com/classifieds , I have to insert the code %CONTENT% in the HTML template where I want the 3rd party classified ad content. The banner/header and both side margins are defined in the HTML template, as is the content matter at the bottom. The content in the middle is supplied by the ASP-based software suite.

You would place whatever html you wish in html files called say header.html and footer.html and link to those files to load them in Admin => Global Options by specifying the server path to those files you create.
