| PP 5.31 & RP & CL with vbulletin?
Hi
I am thinking about switching from my old forum software to vbulletin. Before I make this decision, I have to check for specific compatibilities with Photopost.
Currently I have all 3 photopost products (PP, RP, CL) always newest edition integrated with each other (with PP5.31 as the "master" registration database)
Now the tricky part starts. I want first to import my old forums in fresh vbulletin installations. Since I have around 10 old forums, I will import them into 10 different vbulletin installations.
The question is now, whether there is a way to integrate all those vbulletin forums with my "triangle" intergration of PP, RP and CL?
If the forums would be empty, I guess there would be no problems. But since I need to import the old forum into vbulletin, with all old postings and all username & passwords, I do not know whether this would work. Not all of these users are also users in my PP installations. Some overlap, some don't. Also the spelling might be different (capital letters etc.), even if it is the same user...
thanks in advance

Now you can install vbulletin and import the photopost users table using there impex script and then you need to realign our products to integrate with vb3

will there not be problems, if I import all PP users into vbulletin, if in vbulletin are already users (sometimes the same, but not always)?

well can not speak on that as I have never tried merging into an already set forum. You can import the users using the vb impex script realign photopost to use vb and then use the userfix scripts we have linked in the import forum to realign the userid's to the new vb userid's in the photopost tables.

I tested this now. There is an import script with vbulletin called "Impex". This "Impex" has a photopost converter included.
I imported and it seems that except for 15 users, all got imported. BUT, no usergroupnames.
There are only the usergroupnames of vbulletin appearing within vbulletin, but none of my old PP usergroupnames. This would mean that I have to scan the old PP database and manually create thiee usergroups within vb and move the imported users one by one into these usergroups.
Strange. Did anybody had similar experience? I posted in the vb forum already but no answer yet. Will update here asa I have more information.
Now I have to research for "switch integrations"...

update:
I followed the instructions here: http://www.photopost.com/forum/showp...89&postcount=2
and deleted in the PP usergrouptable all usergroups except the admin group. I then changed the usergroupid number from 5 to 6 (in my installation it was 5, not 2).
Now I can login into photopost with an admin account. But I can not login with the same admin account into vb3. I get the error wrong username or wrong password.
BUT if I login first in PP and then do a refresh on the vb page, I am logged in in the front end there too.
But no other username works so far with the login. Neither at PP nor at VB3. Since I have also integrated CL and RP with PP, maybe this is the problem. So I will change the mysql fields for them too...
User Registration System: vb3
PhotoPost Classifieds Cookie Path: /
Forum database table prefix: vbgalerie_de
Forum Cookie Prefix: bb
How do I get now my old usergroups imported and matched to the appropriate users from PP into vb3?

Hi Chuck,
I checked it again and again, nothing gets better. I just do not see where I could have made a mistake. Quote:
Originally Posted by Chuck S You would need to import your users into vbulletin Want to go from standalone to Vbulletin in Photopost?
Then you can do the steps outlined here
1. Do your forum stuff that has nothing to do with our product imports etc
2. Edit the settings table of Photopost settings 41,83,171-173 and set to the proper integration type forum mysql table prefix and cookie settings.
3. Edit your config-inc.php file of Photopost and enter in user database the proper vbulletin mysql info and the proper vbulletin license in the $vblicense variable line.
4. In your usergroups table of Photopost delete all entries except Administrators where that one you want to edit it and change the groupid from 2 to 6
You should then be able to login with your vbulletin admin and import usergroups and set the enhanced vb3 integration stuf |
Also the last phrase in the description gives me headaches: I do not see anywhere a possibility to import usergroups?
And what I found out now is, that the import script seems not no accept the PP 562 passwords of all my users. It seems I have to change them manually or mass mail my users, which would be a nightmare!
Any ideas/ experience with this?

2 more questions:
1. in the PP tables there is this field "Forum Cookie Prefix" and as description the text:
"Some Default values vB3: bb, phpBB2: phpbb2mysql, ..."
If I integrate with VB 3.67, is "bb" or "vb3" or "vb3 :" (latter one with 2 fullstops) the right input?
2. In the config-inc.php file I put the folloing in (in bold) Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
Is this all correct? Should be in "$pp_db_prefix = "PP562 prefix";" not the vB3 prefix?

No you do not put your vb prefix there
Your vb prefix is set in field 83 of the database per the very first instructions. Field 41 is vb3. The Others are cookie settings.
As long as the users exist in your vb you should be able to login with your forum admin be logged into the gallery go to admin and resync your usergroups as noted in edit usergroups.
Users can reset there passwords in vb |
