Can't upload images

I have a user that was able to successfully upload images yesterday, but today they get the following error message:

Warning: imagejpeg(): Unable to open '/home/campwise/www/campwise.org/photopost48c/data/513/1about1-thumb.jpg' for writing in /home/campwise/www/campwise.org/photopost48c/image-inc.php on line 114

I have checked to make sure that the permissions in the data directory are 777 and I've deleted files from the upload directory in case something was lingering and clogging things up.

Still no luck. I'm using version 4.8c.

I would suggest you clear the uploads directory and then double check all permissions again on uploads and data at every level to 777. Either the image is corrupt or permissions are not correct.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've discovered that the data directories for each category have been deleted. I don't know if the cause is PhotoPost or something else. Adding the directories restored the ability to upload images. It works though I'm nervous about the directories disappearing again.

Anyone else ever encounter this problem?

Nothing I know would make directories dissappear without them being deleted physically
