what happened to my photopost?

sometime over the weekend, my photopost simply disappeared. no matter which page i try and load, i get a blank page and the browser is "done".

i tried installing 5.3 and that gives me the same results. any ideas?

http://www.wvbbts.org/photopost/index.php

thanks

well some more info here would assist us in assisting you.

Like integration type if your installed with a forum

You could have anything from a corrupt file to as something as simple if integrating with vb a bad server path to the forum to load the forum header

more info

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for the reply.

i do have it integrated with vbulletin 3.5.4 (http://www.wvbbts.org/forum/index.php)

i've checked the rights since this is on a hosted server and who knows what they do. they all check out fine.

i installed 5.3 this morning, hoping that would take care of any corrupted files which may have been there.

if you look at the forum, i have (had) photopost thumbnails that used to show up; even when the photopost link was showing nothing. since the upgrade, i now get black boxes where the pictures used to be. it is still finding the users that posted the files, so some linking is going on.

i used imagemagic, could my hosting site have moved that on me? if they did, would this be the result?

i'm sending you copies of my config-inc and config.int files in case they shed any light on the problem.

thanks

allan

well try turning off the 3 vb3 switches in the config-int.php file and see if the pages load.

more info

i ran the install.php program again. at the end, when i try to access the adm-index.php file, i get an error that it's an invalid login name. when i click register, it tells me i'm already registered. i'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out what broke (although i'm very happy to see photopost knows how many pics i have and that all looks fine).

how do i trouble shoot this integration problem.

thanks

allan

Looks to me like you overwrote your config files as your photopost feature block no longer has the right data path etc.

I would suggest you check these things. Take note the vbulletin config.php file has all the info you need for cookie prefix and license number

1. Make sure your config-inc.php file of Photopost has the proper vbulletin license number for vb not customer number

2. Make sure your config-int.php file has the proper server paths and urls for photopost forum and data directories etc. You should be able to turn on the enhanced integration then. Your white page indicates to me that your server path to vbulletin was wrong.

3. next in your vb admin you can set your cookies like this and in photopost you may need to check the settings table of photopost entries 171-173 and make them match.

cookie path /

cookie prefix bb

cookie domain .wvbbts.org

Looks to me like vb is set this way but Photopost can not be if it is not recognising the cookie. Make sure setting 41 in your photopost settings table says vb3 and not vb2

some progress

Hi Chuck,

It looks like my hosting company moved me to a new server without saying anything. the server paths were wrong. i was on web01 and now i'm on web06. these changes got mostly everything else back working. i'm still getting access denied to my galleries. when i try and go to the admin section, i get asked for my password, it takes it, says thanks, and then brings me back to the main photopost page, logging me out in the process. i'm going to work on the cookie portion of your hints tomorrow.

i looked for entries 171-173. what file are you referring to? config-int and config.inc stop well before lines 171.

thanks for all your help.

171-173 are in your settings table of the application in mysql you can use phpmyadmin to view those.

almost there

i'm almost there chuck. i checked all the cookie values that were listed above, and those helped me to get back into my admin program for photopost. i guess it knows who i am again.

two problems left that are probably related.

when i click on any of my public photo albums, i get "You do not have permission to view this category." when i'm in the admin area and click on "edit catagories" i get "Unable to find category: 504" if i click on a different catagory, i get the same message with a different catagory number at the end.

the only thing that was amiss before was the cookie prefix entry was blank, i added bb and that's what got me into the admin program.

thanks for your help.

If it is an album you can view it under manage albums.

As far as your categories you should be able to as admin click Admin => Edit Categories and select which groups can view or upload etc. If your the admin you should have permission to view anything.

You should double-check your .sql files to be sure the backup completed successfully.

Please make sure your using all the proper new files for one and that you have ran all upgrade versions you needed to run.

Next as far as backups have you specified a backup directory server path in global options and made sure it is 777?

The login you sent did not work but it looks to me like you did not run your upgrade script. You should be fine now

one more question please

i have all these files in my cgi-bin/tmp directory. they all start with magic (magic0AjTxM; magic27HgJH; magic2ltLA8), there are 19 of them. they're either 35.8 or 31.8 meg in size. i'm wondering if they are some sort of imagemagic files. do you think they are safe to delete?

thanks again,

allan
