" keeps getting turned into "

Every time someone posts text including ", Photopost displays it as ".

This is a problem, since I run a fishing site and everyone is always posting "I caught a 35" striper this weekend" and so forth.

How can I make sure that when someone types ", it displays as "?

The same problem happens when some posts an ampersand. Here's an example of the ampersand:

http://www.pierandsurf.com/photopost...php?photo=2360
The line reads: Big & Small ... something is really wrong with this picture ???!

And here's one of the " conversion:
http://www.pierandsurf.com/photopost...php?photo=2359
The line reads: 30" Bluefish weighing 6 1/2#'s caught at LIP on a White/SkyBlue Gotcha Plug!

How is it stored in your database? I typed what you did and it displays fine so lets see whats in the database

http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/show...t=500&ppuser=1

This is what is in my database

Quote:
30" Bluefish weighing 6 1/2#'s caught at LIP on a White/SkyBlue Gotcha Plug!
The showphoto file converts it with this line

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

I can't really tell you how it's stored in my DB. All I know is that people are typing & and " and it's getting converted.

Maybe try uploading something here? http://pierandsurf.com/photopost/

if ( VB3_ENHANCEDINT == "on" ) $desc = un_htmlspecialchars(convert_markups($desc));
else $desc = convert_returns(convert_markups($desc));

None of the above appears in showphoto.php. The closest thing I can find is:

if ( VB3_ENHANCEDINT == "on" ) $commenttextline = un_htmlspecialchars(convert_markups($commenttextline));
else $commenttextline = convert_returns(convert_markups($commenttextline));

$commenttext[$itemnum] = $commenttextline;

if ( !empty($usig) && $Globals['showsigs'] == "yes" ) {
$usigline = convert_markups($usig);
$commenttext[$itemnum] .= "<br /><br />------------------------------<br />$usigline";

I'm on 5.21. The upgrade was done by someone at your company--in fact, I think you did it. The guy who performed the upgrade was just a little north of me (I'm in Baltimore)

I don't know why you don't understand the problem. I have posted clear examples above of where " and & are being turned into some kind of ASCII gibberish. For instance this photo shows the following text:

30&quot; Bluefish weighing 6 1/2#'s caught at LIP on a White/SkyBlue Gotcha Plug!

30&quot; should read 30"

Try uploading a photo and typing " or & and you'll see what happens.

Try downloading 5.3 and update your site. The upgrade instructions are in the doc folder.

If you want to try and patch your file the lines I am talking about for $desc are posted above.

The code block you posted is down the bottom of showphoto.php for the comments. The one you need to find is about the middle do a search for the $desc variable and you will find your lines. They should be as I post above in post 4
