Question Uploading Video

Hello,

I am having a problem uploading video. I am still in the setup mode and things seem to be functioning well but uploading video has me confused.

I am trying to upload a .mpg that is about 5 megabytes.

It seems to upload. It takes a couple of minutes on high speed and it says that the upload was successful. But, I cannot find the file anywhere. I was trying to upload it into my personal album. It isn't there.

Things I have checked:
  • That .mpg is an allowed file type
  • There are no restrictions on file size or quota for my usergroup (administrator)

Any idea where I might be going wrong? Users have previously uploaded video successfully into Gallery 1.x and 2.x on my server.

Thank you.

Your file uploads are limited by the PHP max upload filesize which is by default 2mb. You need to edit your php.ini file to allow larger files than 2 mb otherwise PHP is going to drop the file. If you can edit the php settings go for it otherwise you need to place the max filesize limit in the Usergroup permissions in Admin to match PHP.

Hi Chuck. Oh, that php.ini file is not part of PhotoPost then? That is a system file on the server or....?

I am converting from Gallery to PhotoPost and people are uploading those files into Gallery so is that a setting that would be the same on the whole server?

Yes php.ini is a server file and that is a server limitation.

Your people may be using some kind of java applet or something to upload the file I dont know much about gallery but if you try and upload a file through a normal upload prompt you are limited by the server's PHP config. What does your phpinfo say is the max file upload?

yep so thats the max file you can upload unless you edit the php.ini or have your host edit the file and increase the max upload filesize.
