Well you would need to make a code edit cause the sidebar is designed to be opened after the header call and you want this done a little different. You will need to edit showphoto and showgallery scripts if you show sidebar there as well. Here is the edit to index.php. Basically your moving the calls in bold down to right under the display_gallery call and right before the indexhead template call.
