PP5.3: view gallery in categories not working

I set up in admin menu, that the standard layout for all categories is the thumbnail view. If a user clicks on a category, thumbnails only are displayed, which is fine.

The problem is now, that if he selects in the drop-down menu "gallery", it does not change at all. The two other choices ("group by member" and "-with titles") work properly.

What can I do about this?

Okay well I will need to consult with Michael on how we would handle this scenerio.

Let me explain how the feature works so we see how we are getting to the issue that your describing. We set a ppthumbs cookie for that box to load a different view type. This works fine because gallery is the default view it is value 0 then the cookie is cleared allowing the default view gallery to take place. Now the issue you have is when you set a default view type in categories admin it overrides the gallery view. Thus the feature really is working but when you click to go to gallery view your default view of thumbnail is overriding gallery as it should.

This would require us to rework the whole feature instead of just a one line edit I would post here so an answer is going to take a bit
