PP 5.3: How to create a text-only category?

Hi

PP 5.3: How to create a text-only category?

Some users are asking for a text-only category within the gallery. So they want to post commenst or ask questions similar to a forum, but no uploads shall be possible (to avoid to ruin the index page with not that good images).

If I create a category and disallow photo uploads, basically nothing can be done in this category, which means also not text entered.

Is this possible and if yes how?

Thanks in advance

Sorry being the product is a photo gallery and relies on photo uploads to be able to have something to comment on this is not something our software is designed to do.

PP 5.5

I understand this. But looking at Photopost, it has basically all the features for this in place already. I only forward here, what my users want to have.

The only thing which is missing, is a kind of image, which is invisible and does not show up on the index page. As far as I can see it, there is a hack out there for not showing photos of a specific category on the idnex page or in subcategories. This would be the kind of solution I am looking for, although I have not tested that hack yet.

I do not want to replicate a forum. But in my photoportal, many users do not want to register in a forum. They only want the photo gallery and within this photogallery they want to ask questions about photo retouching etc.

There is nothing I can add to this. I think Scott and Michael clearly have outlined what our core product is and that you are looking for things that are clearly forum aspects that will not be added to our product. You are free at anytime to discuss things of this nature in THE MOD CORNER which is outside product support.
