Exclamation Thumbnails only / Register for big images

I have a category and for "Unregistered / Not Logged" I unchecked "These checked usergroups can view images in this category." option. Now they cannot see the category on the main page. I want them to be able to see the thumbnail and catergory BUT if they want to see the bigger picture then they need to log in.

How can I do this for a specific category?

Okay what you need to do is this.

In Admin => Edit Categories set which categories they can view images.

Next go to

Admin => Registration Options and set this to YES

Require users to be registered to view images?

This way for the categories you have selected them to be able to view they will see thumbnails but once they click on the thumbnail to view the large or medium image they will get a message saying they need to be registered to view images.

good stuff.

another question related to the issue.

If I set that, so only registered member can see big images,

1. How can I let unregistered member can still see big image on SOME category?

2. Can I set the option to view big images based on usergroup? says member of one group can view big image on some category, not on some others?

Hello viewing the large images is not based on usergroup permissions soley

Usergroup permissions in cats editor specifies whether the user can view the images in a category thus if you do not have permission to view images in a category then the category does not appear.

So if you want guests to view big images on some cats but not others you would need to remove viewing permissions on the cats you dont want them to see and set the register option to off.

Not without you modifying the code. They can either see all photo sizes or just the thumb when not logged in
