Searching custom or extra fields, only works with text entries?

It seems that the search on my photopost only picks up text type extra fields.

I tried a check box, and a select with the options

wagawagwaga||something else.

When I set up a photo to have wagawagwaga selected, searching for wagawagwaga produced nothing.

However, if I create a text field and type wagawagwaga as the value for a photo (under edit photo), a search for wagawagwaga returns the photo.

Is this a bug, or something wrong with mine, or can you only search the values of custom text fields and nothing else?

Would it be possible for someone to test this while I'm awaiting a reply from official sources, just so I know it's not my installation that's crocked?

The extra field arrays are not searchable that is correct. Since the photo extras are tied to a category only the photo table entries are searchable by the search script.

But I can search the extra text fields (Extra Text Field #1*: ). Just not the check box or other options. (Both added via /adm-cats.php?ppaction=editcat&catid=***)

When I searched for this before, I saw posts like this:

The regular extra fields are searched yes as I stated cause they are stored in the photos table.

Your talking about the custom extra fields they are not searched as they are not within the photos table.

God that's confusing. So extra fields are searchable, but extra extra fields are not. Right. Gotcha. Thanks.

Well your linking old posts now from a year ago

The custom extra fields letting a user define as many extra fields as they want is something that was added. They are stored in their own table and thus not searchable at present.

That's all I could find that related to it, guess it's an under-used feature. Could be good to add a join to the search (or something, I'm not an expert) so you can search the extra fields, also a condition to leave them off when they have no value (at the moment it seems to show empty custom fields below photos anyway?).

I gotta say Chuck, I'm really really disappointed with Photopost. I bought it a year ago and I have yet to release it to my users because the functionality is so limited in some areas. How difficult is it to make extra fields required and searchable? I mean it seems like this question gets asked alot and for several years now. Why not improve Photopost??

Photopost has gained alot of new features over the years just remember not everybody is going to find an application with all the features they want. extra fields are searched not the additional extra fields as there is just simply no way to do that that we have found.
