make new text field a language variable?

I want to add a text field to the photo description but as I have a bilingual photopost, I need to have the name of this field be a variable so it can be translated.

I tried putting a random variable as the name of the field to see if it would work:

{$Globals['pp_lang']['phototitle']}

but when I upload a photo I see exactly that. Is there a way to do this?

You need to place a string in the language files by that name

Hi Chuck,

The string you see here was taken directly from the lang files. I figured before trying to make my own I'd use one that already existed to test it out. Is that what you meant?

$Globals['pp_lang']['phototitle']="Photo Title";

It would look like this in your language file and then you can call it in a template.

Yes, as I mentioned this line already exists in the language file and I'm trying to call it in the name of an extra text field in a particular category.

I looked at how other variables are called in templates and it appears ot be like so"

{$Globals['pp_lang']['phototitle']}

But when I enter this line into the name of my new filed it just reads it as plain text. What am I doing wrong?

Now I see what your doing.

Oh no you can't do that

The extra fields are stored in the database you must input the name
