Can I require a category to be chosen?

I have a car website and people will be uploading their car photos. I need to require them to choose a category (or make of car), otherwise its very easy to accidentally put the photos be put into the member albums section with no category at all.

Well you can turn off the members gallery so they can only choose a category

Hi Chuck,

I searched and found an option not to allow members to create personal albums and another one to remove the link from the index page but when I upload a photo I can still choose to put it in the members section. Can you tell me where to find the option you mentioned?

I would love to still be able to view the memberlist if possible just not let people upload photos that aren't in a category.

In index options you can turn off showing the members gallery in admin plus admin => edit categories you can remove upload access to members gallery.

Hi, I am having the same problem and can't get rid off the member galleries showing in the dropdown menu when going into upload picture.
Actually it autoselects member galery from the dropdown when clicking upload pic.

Any idea ?

Thanks.

This worked perfectly.

Peter..It still shows up for me too because I'm an admin but if you log in as joe-blow user you should see that they can only select categories.

Make sure to edit the usergroups to not allow them to have personal albums and also the categories at the bottom to uncheck the usergroups who can upload to them.

Chuck I have another question if you don't mind..

I added two custom fields as dropdown boxes (year and make of car). I need to require that a value be selected in here as well. Do you know how to do this?
