IPS Settings 1 Attachment(s) I have run into a problem in that my current url setting points to my old directory that still contains my medium and large media (http://www.kenyans.org/gallery/kenya) - which I will delete once I get this working., I tested it out by changing the directory name and the images stopped being referenced - meaning that they are not refereced from my new root directory . I have tried changing that current url setting to match the default url setting (which is http://www.kenyans.org/gallery/data) but It doesnt work. What url should i enter in the current url setting - I know in a post in another thread you said that the url stays the same but in my case that only refeneces the direcotry in the public html ( /www/k/kenyans/htdocs/gallery/kenya/ instead of /www/k/kenyans/kenya) . My question I guess would be is there an ablsolute url that can point to the root directory where I have moved the iamges? NOTE : Both directories ( public and root) are named kenya. The duplicate of this (large and mediaum) directory is referenced well on the IPS as the current path setting and then the default path setting is pointing to my thumbnails directory. See the attached image. |
Hello have your already changed the path through the storage options and moved the files? I would suggest starting over here if the files are indeed still in the old gallery/data directory. In Admin => Global Options set your path to the kenyans/gallery/data one. IN Admin => Storage Options hit revert path to get things back to normal Next make sure the new directory you are moving files to exists and is 777. You can then use the change path screen and enter the new path. Your url woud stay the same and hit save. You should be presented with a box that tells you the files will be moved. If everything moves fine you should be serving the new images from the new directory. |
currently the gallery is working because I reverted the urls and paths to working ones, the only path that refeneces to to the new directory is the current path setting. I initially tried doing it exacly as you instructed above but all that the IPS did is create the new directory and the subdirectory for all the categories and its index.php files...no images moved over whatsoever. So I just eneded up creating the root directory and did a manual upload of all the entire directory that that I had downloaded from the public one... that option of reverting...does it change it to the FIRST settings when I installed PP or just the previous settings before the new save. |
Revert sets things back to what is in your Global Options correcting the Storage Option. |
hey chuck, I have al those setings the way they shoudl be ( I reverted back) and eevn with the cuttent path refeneced correctly ( to my root directory),I cannot seem to get it working. What should the current url settings be ( right now its refenecing the path that points to the same directory as to where the medium images and thumbnails are. |
url should be your url to photopost data directory path is the server path to the data directory where the files exist. http://kenyans.org/gallery/data is url I can not say what your server path is |
the server path is /www/k/kenyans/kenya- thats where I uploaded all the large files into. I have those settings set up as so but no success. Let me ask you this, the only thing I did differently was that I created the directory under the root manually and also transffered all those files manually as well. Does that effect the way IPS reconfigures the paths or rather does it make any changes to the database if it was to move all files by itself ? Also , would IPS be able to move about 6GB of data I had to delete the root directory and let it do it automatically? |
You dont need to upload any files anywhere. If the path exists on your server the application moves them to the new path. That is how it is designed to work. |
