Question How do I restrict mods to their own categories?

Okay, here is the deal:

I assign a user to specific category as a moderator but that user does not see ADMIN OPTIONS under the image until I turn on "MOD ACCESS" in usergroups for his group. But, enabling MOD ACCESS also gives the users access to the ADMIN link on the top, where they can approve ALL comments, ALL pictures and do some other stuff too...

What to do so that users asigned to a category only moderate that category and if MOD access is enabled, it is for that particular category only which is assigned to the user?

Thanks!

By chance do you have this option in admin to NO.

Do you want moderators to have global rights?
Set this to NO if you want to assign moderators to specific categories

If you have it set to no then the moderators should only be shown there catlist

See attached image.

If I have that setting and also asign a user as a mod to a particular category, they do not see admin options when viewing a picture.

And if in groups I enable MOD ACCESS it gives them the LINK on top to the ADMIN area with power to approve all comments and pictures.

No they must have moderator access to be a mod so first picture is correct. Second picture is not

If they do not have global rights then the comments photos they mod etc would simply be one's they have a right to approve as in one's from the categories they moderate. This is the intended function of the software.

EXAMPLE this is right from adm-misc.php for comment moderation

$modcats = "";
if ( $User['adminedit'] == 0 ) {
$modcats = get_modcats();
if ( !empty($modcats) ) $modcats = "AND cat IN ($modcats)";

}

If you look at pp-inc.php you will see the get_modcats function and it simple gets a list of categories the moderator is assigned to.
