PP521: How PP sends mails to users (phpmail/sendmail/smtp)?

Hi

I would like to know what system Photopost is using when sending e-mails to users. I found it pretty fast.

I have currently some trouble with my newsletter software and wanted to compare the settings. In my newsletter software I can select either

1. phpmail or
2. unix sendmail or
3. smtp with authorization.

So I try to make a comparison...

any hints are welcome. also if you know a very good newsletter for lists of +20.000 users...
