Watermark medium img permanently, big OTF only

Hi!
I think I remember reading something about this a year or more ago but can't find a single post about it.

I'm setting up a category where medium images are created with 500px and originals are saved untouched.
I want to permanently watermark medium images only and have OTF watermarks on medium and big images just as a precautionary measure.

Is there any way to do this?

Ricardo there is no way to do that without code modification for sure.

You know what? It was so simple that any 6 year old could do it =)
Just set permanent watermarks on, set OTF watermarks on and comment the line that watermarks the big image in process_image function in image-inc.php.
Permanent watermarks and OTF watermarks are not handled by the same function so it's pretty simple.

My brain is still hurting from the useless strain
