Thumbnails Distorted

Hello,

I'm using ImageMagick.6.2.5 to create thumbnails. I have set the size of the thumbnails to 100 pixels. When I upload a photo the thumbnail is distorted and I don't know why or how to resolve this, any help on this would be greatly appreciated

You don't want that effect its giving you? You can choose how your thumbnail is viewed. It can be a film strip, leaves, all kinds of stuff. Pay attention where the thumbnails settings are. You'll see a drop down menu for it.

Unhappy

Hello,

I know about the thumbnail-fame, the frame was not the problem if you look at the thumbnail all you see is a section of the full image.

Okay I seem to be having a great deal of difficulty with the ImageMagick.6.2.5, at first I thought the photos were distorted, but that was not the case. It appears that it did not make a thumbnail it just took a section of it as the thumbnail, in other words it did not reduce the size.

After a lot of testing, I see ImageMagick is not making a thumbnail at all, no error message and no thumbnail. If I use GD1 (because my server does not have a GD2 (for image processing)) it will make a thumbnail, but it won't add the watermark, but then neither does ImageMagick.

The data folder and upload folder and all folders and files within are set to 777 and the path for the watermark is set correctly.

I have yet to figure out how to set the medium image size on this. The large photo is set to open a separate window, but the medium-size photo is larger than my screen, basically the same size as a large photo, all it did I mention I'm a beginner with this program and I'm about ready to fill it out the window... LOL. But after reading on your forum for a while I see I'm not the only one ready to pull their hair out, keeping the image inside the page seems to be a major problem. For the life of me I don't understand why this wasn't set to begin with on the install.

Yes, I have the following set:
- Turn on "keep original images" if you don't already have it on
- Turn on option to show originals in a popup window

I would just like to get this up and running, any and all help would be appreciated.

Well you do not want to use any of the features then as with overlays they are a background image. You would need to use regular thumbnails if you want the full thumbnail shown.

I'm trying to get ImageMagick.6.2.x to work.
One of them (GD2 or ImageMagick.6.2.x) is required! I would just like to get it working.

Thanks.

In Layout Options in admin select thumbnail as your thumbnail template do not select one of the overlays.

The watermark is one of the things I would like to have working. I don't know why it wasn't working. I have ImageMagick working, but it doesn't create a small thumbnail and it doesn't show the watermark. I should say the path to ImageMagick is correct and it appears to be processing the photos when uploaded but it does not do what I understand it should do, create a thumbnail and apply a watermark.
My question is: did I miss something, is there some setting somewhere that needs to be changed in order for this to work?
I appreciate any and all help with this.
Thank you.

You would need to setup watermarking.

You set in watermarking options watermarking to yes.

You set the server path to the watermark image. If your using Imagemagick you will probally want a transparent gif as the watermark.

You would in edit categories set the watermark permissions for which usergroups get watermarked.

Yes, did this also... tried it with .png & .gif, tried it with transparent and nontransparent, I went through numerous tests to see if I could get anything to work.

Yes, set categories and groups are set.
