Downgrading Image Space Quota Let's say I have 2 usergroups: Gold Members with 10MB of image space Silver Members with 2MB of image space What would happen to the images if I move a user from Gold to Silver (10MB to 2MB)? Imagine the Gold member had 100 Pictures in 10MB.... how does PhotoPost Pro handle the downgrade? What would happen to the pictures and which pictures will be lost (if any)? Thanks. |
well nothing happens they just cant upload anymore if their limit is reached They would need to delete some of their images |
Thanks Chuck for the reply. So you mean to say that they will still have 10MB of pictures on my site. Even though they are Silver member who is allowed 2MB only. I am trying to make Silver (Free w/ 2MB) Membership, and Gold (Paid w/10MB) Membership. If user pays on monthly basis and decided to stop paying I will downgrade thier account to Silver. Shouln't they lose the pictures in 8MB of space? |
No they should not. We are not going to just artibrarily delete users pics ;). He will just not be able to upload anymore pics without deleting 8mb worth of pics himself |
You are right but in my case I cannot let 10MB of pictures hanging in there visible to everyone while the user just stopped paying and got downgraded to 2MB. Why would they pay and want to become Gold again? Maybe we should make thier pictures unavailable of some kind and allow them to pick what they want to keep and what not (remaining within their limits) I beleive this feature is not readily available but would be a good option. It will compliment the Paid Membership concept. A user's UserGroup can be changed through a script triggered by payment gateway. You pay.. you become Gold Member for the duration. Your subscription expires, you become Silver Member. Perhaps all pictures should be flagged as onHold of some kind. Thanks Chuck, I shall continue this discussion in Mod Section. :) |
Well vbulletin is not set up this way either just isnt done. A member pays for access to private forums in VB and when his subscriptions ends his posts are not deleted or flagged in any way they are still there. Yep maybe someone can assist you in the mods section. |
